Our friends over Nokia Conversations have just kicked off the funniest competition in a while; they are in the lookout for an accent aficionado! Who cares about that certain sports event starting tomorrow, the Foreign Accent Cup is the real deal! You think you do the best Australian accent? How does your Italian accent sound? If you think you can pull the best foreign accent ever, take part in the Foreign Accent Cup via Own Voice!

So, how can you enter? First of all, download our Own Voice app. As you know, Own Voice lets you record and share your own navigation instructions for Ovi Maps directly to your Nokia device. All you need to do is find a quiet location, follow the instructions and record your best accent. I ziink I doo zee best French acczent therrre iiiz…

God, that was lame.

So anyway, after you’ve perfected your accent entry (how do you think a Finnish-Swedish-German accent would sound? Too consonant-y? =), you need to submit your voice pack either via email to foreignaccentcup@ovi.com, stating the name of the voicepack in the subject line, or in the Nokia Conversations comments section with your Twitter username. Remember to include “Accentcup” in the description of your voice pack. The prize? Heaps and heaps of Nokia goodies and the smug entitlement that comes from knowing you’re a master of doing ze foreign accénts.

And also! If you want to take part in the competition, do so ASAP as the competition runs only until tomorrow (Friday 11th)!

Now, submitting your entry in your own accent is perfectly fine, but how about stretching your vocal chords a bit? Like the accent enthusiast Amy Walker, perhaps?
