Spring is just around the corner, and that means getting out and about and enjoying the sunshine and blue skies. Sylvain from the Search team has some tips about how search can help you enjoy your day out.

If you want to find a special place to have dinner with your friends or just spend the day celebrating yourself with some good wine or going to a museum, use Maps.

People tend to search for addresses and places, having something precise in mind or wanting to discover and explore. For both, Maps helps you find what you are looking for, making it easy with search suggestions and spelling corrections, but in this post, we will look only at the different ways to search and access content.

With Maps, you can search & discover places and addresses in many ways.

Searching by keyword, whether for an address or a place, a city (e.g. “Restaurant in Copenhagen”, “Museum in São Paulo”, “Hotel in Venice”, …)

Searching for an address, a city, a landmark using the one-box search

Browsing categories in order to find nearby places in the specific category or subcategory

There is another easy way to find out what is around a particular place or location. Whenever you pan the map or after selecting a particular result, you can click on the top of the page. See the top of the page with “Metro-Porto”.
Once you click on the Black tab (here, the Metro-Porto name with 1676km below it) it will take you to the page below. There, you can also see places of interest which are near this location.

Easy isn’t it?

Feel like sharing the place with your friend or partner now?
It is as easy as clicking on share and selecting whether you want to share via sms or via email.
If you share via email or SMS with someone who does not have Ovi on their phone, a link is sent to them, with your message. In the below example, it is an email message.
When they click on the link, the maps page related to that location opens up.

Hope you found this information useful! Let us know how you are enjoying the beginning of the end of winter!
