Palm Eos vs. Palm Pre vs. iPhone: Sized Up

The Palm Eos made quite the splash today, but to us the biggest news about it is how crazy-small it is.  Truly, is the the successor to the Centro.  If the Eos's purported specs pan out, what you're looking is a size comparison (thanks, sizeasy!) between the Palm Pre (in red), the Apple iPhone (in purple), and the Palm Eos (in orange).  As you can see, it's not only the thinnest of the bunch, it also is only 55mm wide, meaning it's going to feel pretty darn great in the hand.

The only downside that we can see is that to fit it all in such a tiny package, Palm had to make a compromise somewhere.  That compromise: the screen.  The Eos's screen is 2.63 inches diagonally, compared to the Pre's  3.1 inch screen and the iPhone's 3.5 incher.  Palm also had to cut some pixels, the Eos is purported to be 320x400 instead of 320x480.  The good news on that front is that we are more than confident that the webOS has the flexibility to handle pretty much any screen size you can throw at it because so much of it is based on web technologies.  The 'bad' news is is a mixed bag: the screen will be small, but so will the Eos itself.
