Ovi wants to give you a ‘hand’ with game choices for your Nokia

There are plenty of great game choices in Ovi Store. But today, I want to focus your attention on a "handful" of titles from one game publisher in particular, and that is the folks at HandyGames. This German company makes games that bring tremendous humor and personality to the experience.

There are plenty of great game choices in Ovi Store. But today, I want to focus your attention on a “handful” of titles from one game publisher in particular, and that is the folks at HandyGames. This German company makes games that bring tremendous humor and personality to the experience on your Nokia mobile device. Every time I find a new game that they have released to Store, I cannot wait to try it out. We’ve covered several of these games in the Ovi Daily App over the past year or so, and one recent review made me think it was time to do a round-up featuring a bunch of their stuff at the same time.

So, our recent review was for one of their newest games called Aporkalypse – Pigs of Doom! The name alone is attention-grabbing, and had me convinced that it would be worth a shot. And, the game did not disappoint.

As our reviewer noted: “Aporkalypse is a witty, well-designed side-scroller that constantly tests your logic skills in the most entertaining of ways. It really is a hoot and a half to play.” This video demo shows the game in action:

Aporkalypse – Pigs of Doom is only $0.99 (USD), and it is available for a broad range of Nokia’s touch-enabled devices in Store.

If you’re not into pigs, how about Devils and Demons? The game is a take-off on a long-ago, and hugely-popular computer-driven role-playing game called “Diablo” that pits you, the brave warrior and lone defender of the land, against hoards of fiendish beasts that are trying to escape from down below and obliterate the surface population.

Sound easy? Not so fast. As our reviewer stated: “Just be ready for a cramped left thumb, you’ll be punching away with it fairly relentlessly; the devils don’t know how to give up, they just keep coming.” This game is also available for $0.99 (USD) in Store; and there is also a free, ad-supported version that you can try, too.

Or, if you don’t want to take on the underworld just yet, how about aliens trying to take over your farm? Yes, that’s right. You see, the aliens have landed in a Texas corn field, and it’s your job to mow the little buggers down with your combine harvester just as fast as you can. This game is Farm Invasion USA, and it is just as amusing as you can imagine it will be.

You get to drive your over-sized tractor through the corn fields, mowing down everything in your path, which of course means corn that you need to harvest, and pesky aliens that have invaded your crops. Be warned, the scene gets bloody in a hurry. Happily, the game includes a windshield wiper feature that you can run across the screen from time to time to help clear you view of the carnage. Once again, this game is only $0.99 (USD) in Store. (I think I see a trend here …)

HandyGames makes plenty of other great games for your Nokia device – more than I can mention in a single post. You can have a look at their publisher page in Store to see some of the other titles. A few that I know are worth the download include Guns’n'Glory and the free Shark or Die.

And, I was pleased to see there are some new titles that I haven’t even tried yet … including Cyberlords – Arcology, and infeCCt Free. I guess I know what I will be doing this weekend – trying more HandyGames!

Have you tried any of these titles from HandyGames? Which ones are your favorites? Share your ideas in the Comments section below.
