Verizon issue sparks AT&T wireless outage in Manhattan

A Verizon digital cross connect box that directs network traffic has been damaged due to recent thunderstorms in Manhattan, cutting local landline service and affecting AT&T's cellular network. A report says Verizon maintains only a limited part of Manhattan is affected, ranging from the 20 series treats to the 40s between 5th Avenue and the east side of the borough.
