Nokia Maps has recently added Sydney to our 3D repertoire. Apart from the famous Sydney Opera House, what else makes Sydney a place worth visiting? Let us take a look on maps.nokia.com, with the city’s own website, sydney.com helping us on the way.

The Sydney Opera House is synonymous with the city, and indeed, Australia. Build 50 years ago based on the designs of a young Danish architect called Jorn Utzon, it is known all over the world for the world class performances held there as well as its architectural elegance which earned it a place in the World Heritage list.

The Harbour Bridge is called the original Sydney lookout due to its position as the highest viewing point in Sydney when the bridge opened. The Pylon Lookout offers views of Sydney Harbour, Botanical Gardens and the surrounding areas. On a clear day you can see as far as the Blue Mountains.

Australia Square is one of the big buildings in downtown Sydney. Many of us are not aware of the skyscrapers of Sydney – however, the buildings look impressive and act as the icons of the bustling trade and commerce center that Sydney is.

Australia is a force to reckon with in sports, especially Rugby ( called football by locals)  and Cricket. Sports play an important part in their society, hence we should not be surprised to see these impressive stadiums for Rugby and Cricket so close to one another.

Another impressive building, which is also good as a lookout point is Sydney Tower. You can get a beautiful view of many of the art galleries, museums and parks atop this.

Lastly, the 3D team has added a lovely helicopter trip from the coast to city for us to enjoy. Head over to 3D maps, check it out, and let us know what you think of Sydney and the helicopter ride in your comments below!
