Recently we’ve been able to share some really good news around the Store. But since news today come to us in tweets and pieces, I decided to summarize the latest development into a blog post.

Store Grows and New Download Records Are Broken

In the end of April Nokia released the first quarterly report of 2010. Unwired View noted that the daily download figures for Store had increased 70% from 1 million to 1.7 million a day in the first three months of the year.

Also, in the early days of April, Digital Chocolate celebrated 4 million downloads from Store by releasing five free games for April and May 2010: Tower Bloxx: New York, Rollercoaster Rush Revolution: 99 Tracks, Crazy Penguin Party, Nightclub Fever and Dictator Defense, all completely free of charge. What’s even more interesting, however, is Digital Chocolate’s commitment to undertake a related marketing campaign, which suggests that their own experience has led them to believe there is significant commercial potential in the Store. Digital Chocolate will support the campaign with a web initiative by creating a new Ovi customized online teaser of three of the campaign games. These web versions are available to play for free across numerous casual gaming sites on the web, and will feature Store links to direct the qualified game player audience to the Ovi Store offering a variety of mobile games. The viral web campaign will also reach across Digital Chocolate’s other web games, and Facebook version of Tower Bloxx, which has been played by millions of Facebook users. (via AllAboutSymbian.com)

Later in April Offscreen Technologies announced that they had passed the 25 million download mark with their apps on Store. In the Nokia Qt SDK video Harri Myllynen, CEO of the company, said in their Nokia Qt SDK they are really looking forward towards reaching their next milestone: 100 million downloads.

Ovi App Wizard

In the beginning of May we made Ovi App Wizard available. Ovi App Wizard is a free web-based tool allowing publishers to create Apps very fast. One can take any RSS and Atom feeds for video, audio, text and images for blogs, YouTube, Twitter and news are formatted into an WRT or Java application that delivers fresh content to your Nokia device every time the feed is updated. These apps work on nearly every device that supports Ovi Store. Bloggers have tried it out and confirmed that it is, in fact, as easy and fast to use as we’ve told you! Still not confident? Well, you can try it out too at: appwizard.ovi.com/

Now, I have two questions for you, dear reader: 1) how many apps have you already downloaded from the Store and 2) have you made your very own app with the Ovi App Wizard? :)
