There’s a new game out over at Store that is sure to blow your mind: Space Impact: Meteor Shield by Nokia is a space shooter mobile game that puts you in the seat of Earth’s last hope to prevent looming apocalypse. To defend Earth against meteorite showers and alien hordes, you simply take aim and blast the falling rocks to rubble.

Cool enough, but how is this alone going to rock your world, you ask? Well, add the fact that this game uses the digital compass (magnetometer) of your device to the mix. Yes, Space Impact: Meteor Shield offers a new way to control the turret using the magnetometer, and touch technology of the device allows for easy and innovative controls. Players aim the gun by rotating the device and shoot by touching the screen.SIMeteorShield

We here at Ovi are very excited about this as Space Impact: Meteor Shield is the first game ever in Store making use of the digital compass on Nokia N97 and Nokia N97 mini as a game control mechanism. Raine Mäki, producer for the game at Rovio Mobile says: “Space Impact: Meteor Shield was our first experience with 360 degree compass control. The compass really allows for a unique gaming experience. Spinning around blowing up space rocks is dizzyingly fun.” We couldn’t agree more!
