This week has been busy for us over at the Ovi Daily App … but that doesn’t mean we don’t want to take some time to stop and listen to what is happening in the world around us. With that in mind, we’ve got three apps that are all aural, baby.
First up – and brand-spankin’ new to Store – is a cool cat called Loop released byNokia, which let’s you take the sounds you hear all around you, and turn them in to music. Hard to believe, right? Well, take a look at this short video to see Loop for yourself:

Fun, right? It’s like having a mini-mixing machine built right in to your Nokia N8 or C7 smartphone.
With Loop, you can use sources of inspiration that are all around you to make completely new tunes. Loop is free to download.
Next up is an app that is a favorite of many, including our guest blogger Dan Carter from World of Nokia who wrote about it for us this week … I’m talking about the app for the subscription-based music service called Spotify. As Dan noted in his review: “For a small monthly subscription fee you get access to a whole host of tracks in a whole range of genres at the touch of a button or tap of the screen.”
The app itself is free to download from Store, and the subscription fee varies by country. (Now, it should be noted that Spotify is not currently available everywhere, but the service is spreading fast!)
The final app in our trio this week is one that appears to just keep on getting better as it matures. BlogRadio has just released the 2.0 version of their mobile app, and with it a whole slew of enhancements, including 5 languages in its text-to-speech system, with full internationalized menus and screens. Using BlogRadio, you can take any RSS-based content, and easily convert it to an audio podcast that you can take with you on your mobile device. The voices reading the blogs to you sound natural, and are really quite pleasant to listen to.
As our reviewer noted earlier this week, the latest version of this app has “a crisp new look and feel … that is fabulous on Nokia’s new Symbian devices as well as S60 5.0 touch screen phones.” BlogRadio is available in Store for $0.99 (USD). More information is available on the BlogRadio website.
So, grab some sweet headphones, and then sit back and enjoy some serious sounds with these audio-inspired apps.
And when you’re done, give us your thoughts in the Comments section below. What music apps do you use to carry a tune or two on your mobile device?
