Hi, everyone!

My name is Hem and I work as a product manager for Ovi Mail here at Nokia. We are delighted to announce the launch of Mail 2.0 today, and I’d like to go through some of the most important changes and updates.

First of all, Mail is now integrated with Ovi Contacts. This means Mail no longer has a separate address book for contacts, which means that you only have to maintain one copy of your contacts across Ovi services.  Also, you now have the possibility to sync your device phonebook with Ovi Contacts and Ovi Mail. The next time you log in to Mail, you will probably get the following notification (just click “Go to my Inbox”):

MailThis was the most desired feature by our customers and we are very excited to bring this feature to you!

Another key update is that Mail 2.0 comes with Arabic support both on your device and webmail.  Over 280 million people all over the world use Arabic as their first language and customers in Arabic-speaking countries can now view their Mail account in Arabic. FYI: this was a challenging feature to implement considering the fact that it’s a right to left language and the Ovi Mail UI had to be changed to support this orientation.

Finally, we’d like to brag a little: Mail now has 6+ million total users. This is a spectacular achievement for us as we launched Mail just over a year ago, and we’re seeing this number grow by about 1 million new users a month!

-Hem

P.S. If you don’t have your free Mail account yet, get it here now!
