Santa’s newest little helper lets believers follow him around the world for the first time!

Today Nokia helped its Finnish neighbor and friend Santa Claus prepare for his most successful journey yet by fitting his sleigh with a new Nokia N8 and Ovi. Nokia welcomed Santa at its global headquarters in Espoo, Finland for the installation and to brief him and his reindeer on a specially designed route around the world created by the navigation experts from the Maps team.

Over the next two weeks you will be able to follow Santa on a test drive to see how the new technology will improve the world’s most challenging journey as Mr. Claus travels more than 20,000 km across 15 countries. On Christmas Eve you can then see Santa en route as he checks into cities including London, Paris, Lisbon, Rome and New York. With Ovi, Santa will use live traffic info to find the best route and pass by 20 famous sites such as the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin, the Rockefeller Center in New York and the Eiffel Tower in Paris, and save money by using free navigation.

As if delivering presents wasn’t enjoyable enough, his ride will be made even more entertaining by having access to Ovi. With maps, apps, music, games and messaging, he can stay entertained and keep in touch with friends and elves.

You can follow Santa Claus on our Twitter feed or on the Ovi Facebook page where he will be posting pictures and updates of his route as he goes along. Once he is safely back in Lapland with the elves, people will be able to revisit the final route that Santa took to see just how far he travels every year to deliver presents around the world.
