Hi. My name’s Jane and I arrived at Nokia in the Music team here in Bristol in 2007 via a long and circuitous route, meandering as much as my musical tastes do.

Having grown up in a culturally diverse area of London, I became aware at an early age that there’s a whole big wonderful mixture of music outside the UK’s Top 40.  I’ve been a musical magpie ever since, attracted by anything which stirs the emotions.  Currently delving into Afro-Brazilian rhythms by trying to drum in a samba band.

The great thing about this virtual digital world is that it’s now so much easier to delve into the music of other physical worlds.  That’s not to say I’m a musical snob, I love and admire a great three minute pop song and marvel at the mystery of why it’s so great and how come Motown was so good at it?!

Anyway, hope my first blog on the Creole Choir of Cuba opens up your ears ever wider to Cuba’s rich musical heritage and gives you itchy enough feet to venture into your own as yet unexplored musical lands. Happy discoveries!
