Microsoft won't try to bid for Palm, still sees HP as ally

Microsoft chief Steve Ballmer has denied any significant pressure comping from HP's buyout of Palm. He told those at a Mexico City conference that there wouldn't be a counter-bid to keep Palm away or get its advantages, such as its patents. A spokesman for Microsoft, Bill Cox, also rejected the idea that the deal might sour HP's relationship with Microsoft by reducing the need for Windows Mobile....
