With the Nokia N8 Game A Day suggestions at an end I thought now would be a good time to take a look back at some of the older games on Ovi, with a focus on the very popular Nokia 5800. Of course we all know of games like Doodle Jump, PAC-MAN, etc… but there’s also some really great games that are fairly unknown, and it’s these I’ll share today. Here’s my top 5 list of the best (Nokia 5800) games you never played:

5. Fling by Zed Worldwide

Fling is a puzzle game where you literally fling furry creatures into one another and knock them off the play board. There’s 1000’s of levels that get progressively more complicated, allowing for hours of gameplay. The simple gameplay mechanics and unmatched variety of levels put Fling at #5 on our list.

4. Star Trek by Electronic Arts

Although Star Trek the movie has come and gone the mobile game is still available on Ovi. Any fan of arcade shooters should not miss this title as it’s one of the best out there. Autofire lets you control your ship without having to mash buttons (or your screen for those touch devices out there) and the missions and ship-enhancements available in the game make for an exciting campaign. Another solid title from EA, Star Trek makes #4 on our list.

3. Anno by HandyGames

Some may know this title from the PC universe, you’ll be happy to hear that what makes it great on a PC translates perfectly to mobile! Manage your workers, build up your lands, and build armies to conquer your enemies – that’s the name of the game in Anno. The in-depth campaign is second to none and the complexity of building and managing several island communities is incredibly addictive, making this game a must-have for any strategy fans out there.

2. UniWar by Xpressed

Probably one of the better-known titles on the list (but still relatively unknown enough to be considered), UniWar is exactly what every strategy game should be: easy to learn, difficult to master, and extremely rewarding when you conquer your opponent via the online multiplayer :) . UniWar has 3 races which are extremely balanced and very fun to play. The combat system is well thought through and makes for some very intense battles over mountains, forests, and deserts. UniWar is one of myfavourite strategy games for mobile and is highly recommended.

1. AR! Pirates by Optricks Media

And the #1 game you never played (but should’ve!) is AR! Pirates. This incredibly unique game shows the true potential for mobile gaming. Using your mobile device’s camera you can play this game with any 3 coins. Simply put them in a triangle, point your camera at them, and try your best to defend your treasure from invading pirates. I hope you enjoy these games as much as I did. Stay tuned for more gaming announcements in the near future.

Happy Gaming,
Myles
