Get Mobile Documents from Ovi for your Nokia

With Mobile Documents you can open any attachments, anytime, on your mobile phone, without any download. You can view, flick through pages, zoom in, zoom out, go to next page, jump to any page, pan, fit to width, switch to read mode, read, skim, interact with numbers. Documents become very lightweight because they are opened on server side and just bits and pieces are streamed.

Hi, I previously wrote about the predominance of accessing social networks on mobile in East Asia, especially Indonesia. Today I am looking how to get the most out of mobile email. In specific areas, like US, mobile email still accounts for 41% of mobile internet time – according to Nielsen study published during the summer .

Have you ever waited and waited to download large email attachments via mobile email? There is a good chance that you have. And so did I a couple of months ago when I moved to UK. I was looking for house to rent and found myself in a situation where I found the perfect house, but was very close to losing it to somebody else. And not because they made a better offer, but because I had just couple of hours to review and sign a 20 page rental contract. I received the email on my mobile phone, but was 30 km away from home and even further from the office , without my laptop. So I used Maps, found the shortest way back to where I lived and got there just in time to review the contract and send it to real estate agent in order to get the house.

I wish I only had Mobile Documents installed on my mobile phone at that time, an application I found later on, while browsing through the Store, and immediately downloaded.
What I found out about Mobile Documents really got my attention: without any download you can open any attachments, anytime, on your mobile phone. You can view, flick through pages, zoom in, zoom out, go to next page, jump to any page, pan, fit to width, switch to read mode, read, skim, interact with numbers. Documents become very lightweight because they are opened on server side and just bits and pieces are streamed.

And of course, within a couple of days, I had the chance to put Mobile Documents to the test: I had to rely only on my mobile email to edit and send out a final version of a huge 9MB document. I opened my email from my Nokia N8, used the toolbox to make the necessary edits and then sent it back in minutes.

We showed Mobile Documents at Nokia World 2010 and I have to tell you the guests absolutely loved the combination of Nokia E7 with Mobile Documents… they could not stop testing it and some of them proclaimed it the perfect combination: huge 4 inch screen with CBT, full qwerty keyboard with personal and professional mobile email enhanced by mobile documents.
Have a look at the video, where Henrik, the lead designer from Visiarc (the company behind Mobile Documents) performs what is probably a pioneering/first time ever act: opening 71MP image on Nokia E7
