Ovi has many fans: you have meet some of them during the past weeks on this Blog. They are all passionate, committed, vocal, creative, … And of course they are also very different from each other. Different personalities, different ways to approach Ovi, different cultures and different feedback.
Then there is Fakhr-E-Alam from SymbianTweet.com
He is truly one of a kind: he is one of the most active fans I’ve ever had the chance to communicate with. This is why I’m particularly happy to introduce him on the Blog with this interview.
-Pino (@haikus)
Who are you and what do you do? Hi, Friends. I am Fakhr-E-Alam from Central India. I have done my Master’s in Computer Science. Currently my life revolves around these three things
- I use to Blog at SymbianTweet.com, trying to keep mobile users updated on latest Nokia and Symbian News
- I am working as a moderator in Symbian Ideas under Symbian Foundation from last one year
- Besides all this I am also handling my family business
My main objective behind getting myself involved in this mobile field, is to help other mobile users to get most of their devices, utilizing the maximum power of advanced mobile technology to make their daily life much easier.
What makes you passionate about what you do? It was back in 1997, when the technology bug bit me while I was trying my hand on my uncle’s laptop and subsequently with my first PC in 1998. My romance with Nokia started with its first Smartphone Nokia 6600. The ability to add different dimensions of this little device fascinated me a lot.
What do you like to do in your spare time? I love to do reverse engineering of electronic gadgets especially if they are not working my way like my lapi, PCs, cordless phones, my WiFi network router, mobile phones for that matter whatever I get my hands on. Mobile photography is next on my list, with my Nokia N82 all the time in my pocket, clicking it for unusual things and usual things to make it unusual: D I flick and share it on my Flickr page. Besides this, I do a lot of experiments with my mobile devices in my spare time. Result: I have created Macro Photography attachment for mobile devices with absolutely no cost. You can also see some videos on my YouTube channel. I’ve won Nokia N97 Owners Widget competition for showing most unusual use of Nokia mobile and also been offered a place on the N-series Wall of Fame at N-Series Blog.

How did you find out about us? I think through some Nokia Blog. I really love the way this Blog interacts with its fans and gets involved to solve their problems.
How long have you been an Ovi/Nokia fan? I’ve been a Nokia fan from the day, I’ve got my first Nokia 3310 in 2000.
What do you like most about Ovi/Nokia? Nokia announced Ovi back in 2007 at the Go Play event in London. Opening the door of possibilities, Ovi is like guiding friend – helping mobile users in their daily life – from email to navigation, from sharing moods to musical entertainment, Ovi has always showed us the happy way of life.
And the awesome guys behind this Blog and WomWorld/Nokia are the building blocks of this successful journey. Truly Nokia has done an amazing job in building up this community and I am happy to be part of it as a dedicated Nokia blogger
What was your very first Nokia device? My first Nokia device was a Nokia 3310, I was addicted to Snake game that time.
Which device do you use right now? I own Nokia N82, Nokia E52 and Nokia N97 mini. Out of these, I still love my Nokia N82 the most: it won my heart with its powerful xenon flash. I love snapping photos and playing some cool N-gage games on it. I use my Nokia N97 mini to get connected with my friends, I use Messaging and Maps a lot. Sadly my Nokia E52 is dead and I am happy that I have dropped it at Nokia’s recycle bin installed at Nokia care for recycling. And, hey, I’ve found replacement for my Nokia N82: It’s new Nokia N8 and I am going to buy one, very soon. Currently I’ve got a green Nokia N8 for trial. Thanks a lot to awesome guys at Nokia India & WOMWorld/Nokia.
What’s your favourite thing you’ve downloaded from Store? Why? I always like to try new apps from Store. The list is long, but to name a few, I use SceenSnap a lot, this one is coolest app available for Nokia bloggers. The next best thing I’ve got from the Store is Gravity, I always use Sports Tracker while running.
What were you looking for the last time you used Maps? Well, last time I used it when I was out of my hometown, looking for an ATM machine. And I am happy to say, team behind Maps have done the job very well. But still Maps are not widely available for all cities in India. It would be greatly helpful if this facility is made readily available at all places in India.
What would you like tell us here at Ovi by Nokia? You guys are doing a great job over at the Blog: it’s like a bridge between Nokia and customers, bloggers, enthusiasts, fans. Ovi is continuously evolving and we really like to see some Ovi gaming platform in near future. Hoping for a bright future for Nokia and Ovi.
Much thanks to you guys, for giving me the opportunity to put-up my thoughts here
