Hi, I’m madho, I’m very happy to tell you about a few things that we rolled out this week in the Store.

You ever go to your local record shop, video rental store, or book store to buy something, but you just can’t remember the exact title? So what do you do – easy, you ask someone who works there, and hope they can figure out how to help you! OK – maybe it hasn’t happened to you, but it seems to happen to me all the time. Our team has been thinking about this for a while, and we’ve now added a couple of features to our search to [hopefully] make it easier for you to find what you’re looking for.

My colleague Scott (our resident search scientist) has led the charge. The main improvement today is with spell correction. When I’m writing a post like this, sure, it may look like I can spell, but misspelling vignette in the 6th grade spelling bee will forever haunt me. We want to make it a bit more forgiving when you may hit the wrong button or forget a letter, so we now try to guess what you mean. Try it – it’s easy:

We’ve also added a couple of new languages to the mix.

Did you know that العربية (Arabic)is spoken in over 25 countries, covering nearly 350 million people? It is amazing. Starting today, we’ve rolled this out to many of our users with Series 40 devices (like the Nokia X3-02 or Nokia C3-01, the Nokia 6300 and more!) with some of our new Symbian devices also coming in the next few days.

मानक हिन्दी (Hindi) is one of 22 official languages spoken in India, a country with nearly 1.2 billion people (including my wife’s family – Hi Uncle and Auntie!) We’re excited to also launch the Store in Hindi on S40 devices as well as updating both our web and mobile web sites.

Finally, we’ve also updated the store for all of our friends using Series 40 devices to our new UI, which makes it faster and easier to discover, download and collect great apps, games and more. We also think it’s pretty good looking!
