Zune subscription also works on Nokia 5800, not on others

Yesterday Ricky Cadden asked me if I tried out the Zune Marketplace subscription functionality on devices other than the E71x that I posted about previously. I then tested the Euro Nokia N96, unlocked NAM version E71, and NAM version Nokia 5800 XpressMusic. I was very pleased to discover the 5800 XM works perfectly, just like my Nokia E71x. Unfortunately, the NAM unlocked E71 and Nokia N96 do not appear to work. An error message pops up stating that the license cannot be found or transferred. I was a bit surprised that the N96 did not work since it is a Feature Pack 2 device, but wasn’t that surprised about the unlocked E71 running Feature Pack 1.

This Zune functionality actually adds another capability to the positive column for the E71x over the E71 for me personally. I was also very pleased to see the 5800 XM working just fine since that device is an excellent multimedia machine with Amazon Video on Demand support and decent stereo speakers.
