Hi, everyone & welcome to our third installment in our mini-Ovi People Interview-spinoff series (that’s a long title, yo).

During the past couple of weeks we have gone back to haunt some of our previous Ovi People Interviewees (just when they thought they were rid of me… I STRIKE BACK!) and asked them what they’re planning on doing during their summer holidays. It seems as though the Savonlinna Opera Festival, summer cottages and strawberries are hot this year amongst Nokians (who knew?)

We have two more Ovi People to go and can you guess who they are…? It’s Pino! And ME! Yes, the Ovi Blog all-stars (just play along) will now tell you guys what they’re doing on their (well-earned) summer holidays. Like before, we asked them (meaning, I asked myself and Pino) the following easy questions:

1. What are you planning on doing on your holidays this year?

2. What is your best way of spending time if it’s raining outside? And what about if it’s sunny outside?

3. What is your favourite “summer food”?

Pino

1. This year I planned my main holidays for May, which is why I will spend the summer in Berlin, mainly working. But this is not as boring as it might initially sound. The summer in Berlin is usually very nice, not too hot, very green, a lot of different activities going on. Germans don’t seem to go in holiday at the same time, like Italians do in August or Finns in July, I understand. So nothing really shuts down, rather the contrary! And when I need to chill out a bit then I’ll go to Badeshiff, Club der Visionäre or to one of the many beer gardens.

2. When it’s sunny there’s nothing better than a BBQ in the park, especially when the sun is setting down. Amazing. And when the usually short summer rain comes, I just enjoy the different scents that it highlights.

3. Gelato No further comments needed.

Niini

1. I’m so boring, I’m just planning on going to my parents’ summer cottage, sleep until noon (who am I kidding? I sleep until 2pm), eat strawberries and work on my tan. Maybe – maybe – I’ll make a quick trip to Tallinn or Riga in late July, but that’s still in the thinking cap.

2. I usually don’t have a major problem when it rains. Us Finns are like that =) We’re like, “Huh. It’s raining way less today than yesterday. Score!” When it is raining, the best thing to do is curl up under a blanket and watch tons and tons of TV. I’m such a TV freak: I just love to watch an entire season of something at one sitting! It’s the best. My favourite shows are Family Guy, 24, Desperate Housewives, Supernatural etc.

When the sun is shining, there is one thing I like to do above everything else and that is swimming and tanning, tanning and swimming (in that order). Basically, as soon as the ice starts cracking on the lakes in, like, May, and there’s even a sliver of sunshine, I’m out the door. Also, have you ever tried to go swimming when it’s raining? It’s so much fun! All the fish are super disoriented and you get to spook them when they accidentally come close to the surface! HAH!

3. Well, I really, really like strawberries. A LOT. Especially with freshly made pancakes… yum! Cherries are my second favourite. Every now and then when I’m all hopped up on strawberries and can’t possibly eat any more of them, I go like “hey did we have some cherries in the fridge?” And when August comes along and you don’t really get any Finnish strawberries anymore, I’m totally prepared for that and I move over to Finnish raspberries, blueberries and gooseberries. Truth.
