Hello guys! This is your map lady (@suryasnair) here, to tell you about the new version of Maps which is now on Nokia Beta Labs.

If you are a first time user of the new maps and have been using the 3.04 or earlier versions, there will be a pop up to inform you to download new map data. Usually, we download maps via Nokia Ovi Suite but  with this new update comes the new feature called Update. It is located on the main menu.  Update allows you download street maps directly (via WiFi) to your phone without a PC!

Click on update button, it will take you to a menu which shows you which all maps you already have on your device. You can also check for updates on the maps, or add more maps to your device with this feature. In case you need to pause the download once it starts, you can do that, you will be taken to the main maps menu and you can always go back and resume the download.

We have integrated My Position and Search to a new icon called Map. When accessed, it will show your last map view. Places now have a new and refreshed view.

Favourites now have a Back button, which will take you back to the favourites menu. Also, now you can do a long tap to delete and rename collections and routes.

The transit line layers have also improved, which means no more grey out of the lines. Finally, there is also a compass calibration hint now on maps for those of us who have not quite figured out how to do it.

Enjoy the new maps and give us your feedback on Nokia Beta Labs!
