Ovi is listening: mobile instant messaging

Recently we asked the community some questions about how people use mobile Instant Messaging and our Nokia Messaging IM service. We collected some great feedback to help the guys plan our IM offer further, but in the meantime here are some of the results.

First we asked everyone where they use IM and how, on the PC and on the mobile, it seems that (among our friends and followers) the mobile is certainly the more popular platform:

However we also found that many users want their mobile platform to behave more like IM on the PC, with more functionality, just in a mobile package! A big challenge, but one our team is investigating as they think about how to create a great IM experience given mobile screen size, keyboard ,battery life, and unique use cases.

There was no holding back when we asked everyone what features they would like to see in our IM offering in the future. There were some excellent comments; Facebook chat was something that came up a lot. Meanwhile @MikeMacias wants to see IM for Skype added to our system, @sheridan01 is after a more consolidated contact list while @bharadc23 and @Jainrounak have given us some interesting thoughts on the UI they would like to see in future.
