Do you like Rihanna? No, no, wait… Do you LOVE Rihanna? I for most certainly do; “Umbrella” is still one of my favourite songs =) I also seriously want to wear everything she’s wearing. Truth. Now, if you’re a Rihanna fan like I am, you’ll appreciate this: Nokia has just launched the Nokia 5230 Rihanna Edition exclusively with Vodacom in South Africa. This special offer gives you a voucher to download Rihanna’s latest album “Rated R” from the Nokia Music Store for FREE. That’s all nice and good, but the Nokia exclusive version of “Rated R” also features two previously unreleased tracks, including a Nokia exclusive track ‘Hole in my Head’.
Oh. My. Gah. Niini. Wants. It.
The release of this exclusive offer comes off the back of Rihanna’s 16th of November 2009’s ground-breaking global listening event with Nokia, which was viewed simultaneously across the globe by millions of music fans. A world first, launching one of the most hotly anticipated new albums in recent history, Rihanna’s fourth original studio album ‘Rated R’.
The exclusive Nokia 5230 Rihanna Edition is a fabulous black with a purple back cover to tie in with the overall theme of Rihanna’s album and also ensure that consumers who purchase the device receive something completely unique, not only from the content they have access to, but also from the look of the phone.
Tania Steenkamp, Nokia Communication Manager for South Africa, tells the Ovi Blog why this is such a huge deal: “This is really exciting for all of us at Nokia South Africa, as it not only brings our music service to life, but also enables us to really bring added value to our consumers. Ensuring that their experience is a positive one and for some it will also be their first exposure to the Nokia Music Store, which was launched about 14 months ago here and keeps growing from strength to strength. We now have over 6 million tracks available to South African music lovers with the largest catalogue of local music available in the country.”
The device is currently available for ‘Free’ on Vodacom’s Top Up 135 contract. I hear the demand for the phone has so far been overwhelming and everyone here at Ovi hope that Rihanna fans will be able to get their hands on this ‘hot’ device before stocks are sold out!
Any South-African readers here? Tell us if you’ve bought the device already (and are the exclusive tracks any good)?
