The Nokia Maps applications for web, mobile webSymbian, Meego and Windows 7 Phone are developed with contributions from Nokia teams in locations all around the world, but the majority of the team calls Berlin, Germany home.

Nokia Maps is built using agile software development methodologies: many of us in the front-end and back-end teams use SCRUM to manage the team and in product development. That’s why we are thrilled to support the first ever Agile Lean Europe Unconference in Berlin this week.

Why Agile and why this event? We want to learn new and better ways to do make our maps. The Agile Lean Europe (ALE) community is an open and evolving network of people (not businesses), with links to local communities and institutions. It helps people in European countries by spreading ideas and growing a collective memory of Agile and Lean thinking. And by exchanging interesting people with diverse perspectives across borders it allows beautiful results to emerge.

Nokia is a major sponsor of the event, and several agile practitioners from across Nokia will be present at the Unconference. We’re looking forward to meeting with other agile software experts from across Europe at the event. Do come and say hi to us!

-Will
