Hi, everyone!
As you know, this week during Nokia World 2010 we introduced a fantastic new feature to Maps (you can download the 3.06 version here): Check in.
And can you imagine: even though this feature has only been available for a couple of days, it already has some seriously famous fans! Or what do you think about the following (100% authentic) Historical Check in:
Along Check in, the new Maps (v3.06) also features a more powerful search, a more relevant place page, public transportation lines in 85 cities and live traffic flow in 19 countries around the world. But what exactly does Check in mean in practice? Watch the following educational video by yours truly and my colleague Jennifer:

With Check in you can manually share where you are and what you are up to with your friends on Facebook, Twitter and many others social networks. And if you don’t feel like sharing your whereabouts you can always collect personal statistics and see the history of all the places you’ve been visiting.
To make it easier for you to use this feature, we integrated it also into Walk navigation: when you reach your destination you can Check in right away
We really love this feature, and as we mentioned earlier this week, our good friend Henry VIII loves it too!
Now, do you have any historical buddies (heh) who use the Check in service as well? Tell us what their “historical check-in” would look like in the comments section below and we’ll make visual mock-ups of some of the suggestions and publish them here in the Ovi Blog during the coming weeks!
Maybe something like King Leonidas checking in at Thermopylas…? (What can I say, we like the movie “300” over here!)
