Have you ever heard of the It Gets Better Project?

It Gets Better is an Internet-based project founded last year by Dan Savage in response to the suicide of a number of teenagers who were bullied because they were gay or because their peers suspected that they were gay.

The project’s goal is to prevent suicide among GLBT youth by having gay adults record YouTube video to communicate their personal experiences and express a message of hope.

Since I first heard of this project I wanted to be part of it to share my story. When I was teenager I would have loved to receive such a simple but powerful message from people like me. Their stories would have helped me understand that I wasn’t alone and that I shouldn’t have been afraid to be who I am.

Eventually, I asked my colleagues with similar stories to join me in this project to raise our voice and do good. Jon, Roberto, Mel, Sam, Justus, Carolina, Andy, Mel, Denis and me recorded this video for each one of you who need our help, who feel alone or who are thinking about suicide. But this video is also for anyone who believe in hope and want to make the world a better place for us all.

We are all from different places (United States, Spain, United Kingdom, Brazil, The Netherlands, Germany and Italy) and we have different backgrounds, but our lives got better and so can yours.
