Turn-by-turn navigation is so much more personal and fun when the voice instructions are recorded by you or your loved ones. Ovi makes this possible, thanks to Own Voice, the perfect companion for Maps.

Today I would like to introduce you two colleagues, Daniel and Lola, who have recorded fantastic voice packs to feel more connected with their friends and family. Of course, being an Italian living abroad too, I completely share Lola’s feelings. Also those about the World Cup, since I’m living in Germany. Ok, now all the Britons are going to hate me

But here their stories and videos: let us know what you think!

Daniel’s friendly match

Summer is here and the football frenzy is on! Well, what better way to celebrate the great atmosphere than to invite the guys at the office for a friendly football match? We all love football and thought it would be great chance to get together in a bit more relaxed environment. The problem is we don’t all live near to each other so; where to play? Easy, I sent the guys the location of a neutral pitch to their mobiles via Ovi Maps. To guide them there and get them into the right mood for the game, I used Own Voice application from the Ovi Store to record a Navigation voice pack with the usual pep talk. It is all friendly, of course; but a little bit of healthy competition never hurt anyone, right?

With such a build up the game didn’t disappoint. We had great goals a few intense tackles but above all, lots of fun.

After the game was over, we then looked in Ovi Maps for the nearest pub where, over a couple of drinks we compared our skills with those of the pros on TV. Unfortunately, after watching them do their tricks we realized there is no real competition with us anymore…

Lola’s home away from home

Ok, I’ve said it and now I have to explain it. I am half Italian and no, I don’t feel like a proper Italian when I’m in Italy even if I grew up there most of my life.
But when I’m abroad, and I am a lot since I live in London, I do feel Italian, oh yes, very very much.
You know, the stereotype of Italians, I like good food, good company, nice weather, I’m loud and funny, I laugh a lot… pizza and mandolino kind of stuff… and I do miss that in London.
So to feel closer to my family, my friends and my boyfriend (moglie e buoi dei paesi tuoi – look it up in the dictionary!) I recorded my home away from home voicepack to hear their voices everytime I ride my Vespa around London (I told you that I feel like a proper Italian abroad!) . I like it when they get me to the right people and places even if they are far away. It makes me feel closer to them.
Ok, so now I can reveal it: my other half is German, which means I have another option in the World Cup

And you? Which voice pack did you record with Own Voice for Maps?
