Hello to all the Ovi blog readers.

Maybe some of you still remember me from my first interview here at the Ovi blog.

My name is Carsten, I am 31 years old and I live in Leipzig, Germany.

At the moment I work in a computer repair center and also as a teacher. I visit people with computer problems and I also give computer lessons. I show them how to effectively use the computer, how to write something in Word and lots more.

In my spare time I enjoy turning my computer off :-)   But my Nokia phone is always up and running. This is one of my resolutions for this year. I don’t want to spend so much time with computers anymore as I did it in the past, but it is not easy to do that, because I am very interested into computers, software developing, new technology, creating things with Photoshop and so on.

I enjoy going for walks with my dog. I go to concerts, comedy and cabaret shows and I make time for sports like swimming, jogging and bike riding. Jogging is pure fun when my dog is with me:-) Cooking is fun too because I can be creative. I always have a notepad with me as I write down lots of stuff like songs, poems and other crazy stuff. Playing keyboard and guitar is one of my addictions :) .

Music and movies are very important for me. I love it to watch movies in a cinema or in my home cinema. I’m a video game nerd too :) . Mostly I spend time with my friends. We just have fun together in lots of different situations and activities like cooking together, bowling, karaoke, playing video games (Xbox Kinect is awesome with 4 friends). Sometimes we play old school games like Monopoly or Taboo :)

There are lots of things to do but not enough spare time :( . But now I want to say something about the real important facts :)

In the year 2000 I bought my first Nokia device. It was a Nokia 3210 with a monochrome display. In 2003 I changed to a Nokia 3510i with color display. In 2008 Nokia started a revolution with the mobile navigation system on a smartphone. To have a mobile device with navigation, that was my biggest dream. So I decided to change my device to a Nokia 6210 Navigator. This was such an awesome moment for me. For all the readers who are asking “why it is such an amazing moment?” – Please read my first interview and you will understand this special situation.

Later I bought a Nokia 6710 Navigator because of the free navigation (the old 6210 Navigator is still up and running). My current phones are a Nokia N97 mini and a Nokia N8. My favorite phone is the Nokia N8 (of course – haha :D ). I really enjoy the display size, the brilliance of the colours ,HDMI output, the haptic and the performance. The phone is perfect. Especially Ovi Maps is so smooth and great to use. There are lots of other apps I have on my daily helper :D IM+ for instant messaging, a few mobility tools like DB RailNavigator and easy.Go – a mobile app for local transportation information here in Leipzig. You can buy tickets for bus and tram, you can see the time table to check when the next bus is coming up and the coolest feature ever, the app is telling you which tram/bus you have to choose when you want to go to a destination address.

I also installed Kinozeit, TV Spielfilm, Snaptu, Skype and a few games like Angry Birds, Real Golf 2011, Asphalt 5 and Solo Noble.

My first contact with Ovi was when Nokia decided to rename Nokia Maps into Ovi Maps.

I really enjoy the Ovi services. Ovi Maps is my personal favorite because there is no serious alternative for walking navigation.

I tried a few other navigation apps on other devices (from family and friends) but all the other navigation apps are primary focused on driving navigation. I compared Ovi Maps walking navigation with some other options in the market. Ovi Maps gives me the best all in one experience you can get.

The quality of the calculated routes is much better than on other navigation apps. I enjoy it and use it to plan my trips on a computer, sync the phone with the web service and everything is up to date.

I also use Ovi Mail, Ovi store, Ovi Music, Ovi Suite and Ovi Calendar.

I know, I told it thousand times but Ovi Maps is the essential daily helper for me. But this is not the only reason to stay a loyal Nokia user in the future. The personal component is a important thing too. It is nearly 1 year ago that I had my first personal contact with one of the responsible people behind the Ovi ecosystem. I had a great time with Pino and his team to make a video shoot last June. I really enjoy their way of communication. Nokia understands how to put the customer in the center of all the different products and services.

Ovi blog shows how the Ovi services can be used. It also shows the people behind the products. This is great because it makes it more personal. Beta Labs is a great platform to give feedback, suggestions and bug reports. I really like it to see the future of new products and the possibility to try them out and have conversations with other customers, testers and the developers. Nokia Conversations is also a good platform to tell things related to Nokia. I can remember that the Nokia Conversations blog nearly exploded when the announcement was made official that Nokia and Microsoft will teaming up together. Oh my gosh… that was a great conversation at the blog.

All these things are the reasons to stay a Nokia supporter. I don’t know any other company with such involved communication. It is great to have the chance to enhance the products and the feeling that someone is really listen to the customer’s opinion.

I’m really curious what the future of Nokia (and Microsoft) brings. There is a lot of potential in it and I hope it can be used. But there are lots of unanswered questions. Let’s see what the future brings – we will find it out soon. I hope the future brings a great Ovi Maps version with new ideas and features – I have really high expectations on it.

Special thanks to my special friends Surya and Pino here at Nokia.

Nice greetings from Germany
