Review: SPB Imageer

For some, the camera on your Windows Mobile phone is an everyday tool. From snapping photos for your address book to capturing a scenic shot as you drive down the road these cameras can get a good work out. SPB Software is offering an application, SPB Imageer, that will allow you to organize these photos, upload them directly to your Flickr account and edit them.

To see how useful SPB Imageer can be for your mobile photography needs, follow the break.

SPB Imageer is a feature rich application that follows the tradition SPB is establishing of producing quality applications. The main window is a thumbnail organizer for your photos. From there you can create individual albums based on content or needs (e.g. Contact photos, scenics, etc).

Imageer will allow you to view individual images at full screen or create slideshows. There is a Flickr interface that will allow you to upload images directly to your Flickr account.

While Imageer is a good photo manager it also allows you to do minor editing adjustments. Granted it's not at the Photoshop level but it will allow you to slightly improve your images. From adjusting contrast to brightness as well as sharpening and adjusting hues Imageer has a nice set of editing features. You can even crop and re-size images.  Now it won't turn a blurry photo that's under-exposed into a master piece but it will help those marginal photos take a step in the right direction.

Overall Impression

SPB Imageer is a very nice application and if you need a photo manager with basic editing features, it's definitely worth a look. I don't use my phone's camera often but I can see how Imageer will help those who do organize and clean up photos. Not sure if it's for you? SPB has a 15 day trial download so you can take it out for a test drive before you buy.
